Cheerleading Injuries are Not Uncommon and Should Be Taken Seriously

(USGovernment-News.Com, September 15, 2012 ) WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – We are well into the school year in South Florida, and with the start of a new semester begins one of America’s favorite activities: Football Season. And what is a football game without cheerleaders? Girls throughout the school district are trying out to make the school squad. Inevitably, however, many of these girls will experience some type of injury related to cheering.

According to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research (NCCSI), high school cheerleading injuries represent about 65 percent of all catastrophic sports-related injuries among females in the past 25 years.

This statistic is alarming in that it does not include common ankle sprains or soreness. The statistic only accounts for debilitating and serious injuries as well as fatalities.

Cheerleading ranks second in catastrophic sports injuries, second to football. In light of recent studies conducted regarding the dangers of football, this should be taken as a serious indicator of the importance of safety standards in the sport.

The cheerleading injury attorneys at Gordon & Doner believe that the coaches as well as the schools are responsible for the safety of their squads and should be held accountable when a serious injury does occur.

The personal injury law firm, with offices in Palm Beach Gardens, Stuart and Pembroke Pines, offers free case evaluations to anyone who believes they may have cause to file a cheerleading injury claim.

During the evaluation, an attorney will determine the merits of the claim and guide the injured party on the best course of pursuing justice for their losses. A cheerleading injury victim may be eligible to recover damages for medical bills, physical pain, emotional trauma and other losses related to the accident.

For more information on the legal rights which may be available to cheerleading accident injury victims and their families, visit Gordon & Doner’s website at http://www.fortheinjured.com today.
