(USGovernment-News.Com, August 23, 2012 ) WESTWOOD, CA -- Pre-selected students at Olympic High School and the Off Campus Learning Center are getting an extra boost of support and encouragement as they start the 2012 fall term, NMS Properties, Inc. (NMS) has announced. The real estate development and management company, its partners and associates, and residents of NMS properties have come together to donate 100 backpacks and school supplies to students who may not otherwise be well-prepared for the new school year.
“NMS is very proud to donate supplies to the students at Olympic High School and the OCLC, and to bring the community together in this effort,” NMS President Jim Andersen said in a statement. “We are very excited to work with and support the schools, and help prepare students for the new school year.”
“Olympic High School is grateful for the donations made by NMS, its partners and residents,” added Principal Janie Yuguchi Gates, Ed. D. “This much-appreciated support reminds us that community stakeholders want our students to succeed.”
Students will receive the backpacks and supplies at the first-annual Backpack to School Campaign distribution event, to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, at NMS’s LuXe@Broadway, which is located at 829 Broadway St. (near Lincoln Boulevard) in Santa Monica. Anyone wishing to make a donation to NMS’ first-annual Backpack to School Campaign can do so at LuXe@Broadway.
A voter-registration drive will take place concurrently, and Santa Monica Mayor and State Assembly candidate Richard Bloom is expected to attend, along with other members of the Santa Monica City Council.
