(USGovernment-News.Com, June 13, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast has helped over 8,600 people with disabilities along the Gulf Coast around Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, Alabama. They have a motto that states: “Together, we Empower people through Encouragement, Education and Employment.” This organization has definitely stood true to this statement! GES provides a variety of assistance programs to those in need throughout the community. The organization provides individuals with services such as the following: Early intervention services for children with disabilities, day care and parent training, literacy and education programs, services to help people get jobs, senior citizen programs and even medical assistance services for those who cannot afford it. Goodwill Easter Seals also has a community assistance program which provides disaster relief, assistance with household needs for families in crisis, along with other types of emergency requests. The organization also offers support groups for the following areas: Post-Polio, Autism and Down syndrome. Most groups meet monthly, where participation is open to anyone interested in attending.
Goodwill Easter Seals offers numerous opportunities for disadvantaged people to obtain educational services such as their GED. Free of charge GED prep classes are held mornings, afternoons and evenings to fit every schedule. Students from low-performing middle schools who read below average can also receive assistance through a tutoring program with classes held after school and throughout the summer break.
Goodwill Easter Seals states that they spend 98 cents of every dollar donated on helping people with disabilities.
