(USGovernment-News.Com, May 23, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- For the past 40 years, Crossroads of Michigan has assisted individuals with food, transportation, clothing and the costs of identification and prescriptions. Crossroads is a social service outreach agency committed to supporting the community by offering assistance in the form of a hand up. The Crossroads staff, along with 120 volunteers, give over 18,000 yearly service hours to meet with those in need to discuss emergency situations, discover possible solutions, and help meet needs. Crossroads provides a meal every Sunday to between 800 and 1,000 people.
In addition to the soup kitchen, Crossroads also offers an employment office to help those seeking full time work. Applicants are screened and provide with “job readiness” preparation prior to the job interviews. A bi-weekly meeting of the Job Club provides further assistance to job hunters, training and encouragement.
A new program now being offered by Crossroads of Michigan is Life Skills. Through this program people learn basic skills essential to operating on our fast and busy lifestyles such as communication and budgeting.
