(USGovernment-News.Com, March 30, 2018 ) New York, NY -- In response to the news that The Atlantic hired extremist writer Kevin Williamson, a man with a record of promoting transphobic, misogynistic and racist views, as a columnist for the magazine's new ideas section, Karin Roland, Chief Campaigns Officer of UltraViolet, issued the following statement:
"It is difficult to fathom that one of the nation's most respected news publications is now home to dangerously misogynistic, transphobic, and racist views. People like Kevin Williamson fan the fire that keeps white supremacy and oppression against women and gender minorities alive in this country.
"It is deeply disappointing that the Atlantic's Editor-In-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg decided that comparing black children to 'primates,' denigrating transgender people, and calling for women to be put to death for their reproductive health choices should be rewarded with steady employment and a platform of hundreds of thousands of readers. The Atlantic must fire Williamson immediately."
