TODAY 3:00 PM EDT: NFL PLAYERS JOIN FEMA AND THE RED CROSS TO DISCUSS TSUNAMI RELIEF IN AMERICAN SAMOA

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 02, 2009 ) WASHINGTON- Today at 3:00 p.m. EDT the Federal Emergency Management Agency will host a media briefing via conference call featuring current Cincinnati Bengal and American Samoa native Domata Peko, former Philadelphia Eagle Vai Sikahema, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate and a representative from the American Red Cross to discuss the response and relief efforts for the tsunami that recently struck American Samoa. The briefing will follow a conference call, coordinated by the National Football League, between FEMA, the American Red Cross and current and former players with ties to American Samoa during which they will receive an update on the current conditions in American Samoa and information regarding the relief efforts.

Polynesia has a long and proud tradition of producing top flight football players, many of whom have made it to the NFL. These players are leaders within their communities, and FEMA welcomes their participation in the ongoing relief efforts as we work to address the needs of the survivors of the recent tsunami.
