Ed Bernstein Interviews Bill Friedman and Thomas Wright

(USGovernment-News.Com, April 30, 2015 ) Las Vegas, NV -- If you’re looking for a summer read, we’ve got two of them for you! This week on The Ed Bernstein Show, two special guests will be interviewed, both of which will be providing information on the books they have written.

The first of these is Bill Friedman, who recently released his book entitled “30 Illegal Years to the Strip: The Untold Stories of the Gangsters Who Built The Early Las Vegas Strip”.

Friedman was once the president and manager of two the Castaways Hotel (where the Mirage now stands), as well as the Silver Slipper Casino. At the time, these were both part of the Howard Hughes empire. He was able to turn these failing businesses around, bringing them up to be some of the most profitable sites in the strip. Even now, he is known as the only person to ever manage two casinos in the Las Vegas strip at the same time. Thirteen years into Friedman’s management positions, Howard Hughes passed away, and the businesses were sold and then closed.

His book depicts the reality of the Las Vegas strip throughout the Prohibition years, when mobsters like Al Capone, Frank Costello, and Ben “Bugsy” Siegel set the rules. Friedman researched the operations and history of organized crime for over 48 years before finally sharing his information with the public in this compelling release.

Our second guest, Dr. Thomas Wright, will discuss his book “Impunity, Human Rights, and Democracy: Chile and Argentina1990-2005”.

As the title suggests, the book provides details on the history of Argentina and Chile through some of their most trying years. These countries were blatantly terrorized in the 1970s and 80s, and Attorney Ed Bernstein will get to the roots of how those issues were made possible.

Democracy for both of these countries was re-established in 1990, making residents feel like there was no hope for justice when it came to the inhumane crimes they were witnessing. Our viewers will learn how Chilean and Argentine citizens improved their legal environment and overcame their turmoil with the persistent help of human rights advocates.

These true-to-life books not only cover history, they just might go down in it! Don’t miss this week’s episode of The Ed Bernstein Show this Sunday at 3pm on Channel 3.
