Eaton, John, Overbey & Welles, LLP Supports Event held in Memory of Partner's Daughter

(USGovernment-News.Com, April 29, 2015 ) Wausau, WI -- Dale Eaton, a partner at the law firm Eaton, John, Overbey & Welles, LLP in Wausau, Wisconsin, lost his daughter, Emily Eaton, to the H1N1 flu virus in 2009. Emily was just 12 years old. Eaton and his wife, Jennifer, started a charity, Emily's Path, Inc., in her memory. The organization's mission is to bring happiness to children facing challenges in their lives. Since its founding, Emily's Path has given more than $100,000 to benefit children coping with economic hardship, dealing with special needs, grieving the loss of a loved one, suffering from health problems or other facing other life challenges.

"As the years pass, my wife and I watch the children Emily went to school with growing older and celebrating milestones in their lives," Dale Eaton shared. "Emily would have been a graduating senior at Wausau West High School this year. Six years have passed since her death, and you start to feel like the rest of the world has moved on. Our grief continues. However, I would certainly have understood if her classmates would be more focused on their own lives and their futures at this point."

That is why the Eatons were so surprised to find out that the Wausau West Student Council is holding a fundraiser for Emily's Path to honor Emily's memory and to recognize her place in the Class of 2015. The event, dubbed "Color Emily's Path," is a spin-off of the popular "Color Run." Each attendee is asked to wear a white shirt, and will be given a 1/2 pound bag of colored powder. The participants will be tossing the powder into the air, resulting in a colorful crowd. Concessions will be available for purchase as well. The Student Council is also soliciting donations from area businesses, and the donated funds will be given to Emily's Path in the name of the Class of 2015.

"When we found out what the students were doing, my law firm decided to help sponsor the event," Eaton said. "Teenagers tend to get a bad rap, and we wanted to support these incredible students, who are not only honoring Emily's memory with this event, but raising money to help other young people who are struggling."

The event is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased for $5.00 in advance through the

Wausau West Business Office, or for $8.00 on the day of the event. It will take place behind Wausau West High School from 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, May 10th, 2015. "We're glad they're having it on Mother's Day," Jennifer Eaton said. "It's a really great feel-good event for families of all ages. Emily would have loved it."
