Wexler Wallace LLP Investigates Majestic High Chair Recall

(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 19, 2008 ) Sacramento, CA – Wexler Wallace LLP is investigating reports of injuries and product defects involving Evenflo Company Inc.’s (“Evenflo’s”) Majestic High Chairs, sold to consumers throughout the United States. Evenflo has received over 1,000 reports of plastic caps and screws falling out of its high chairs, including incidents where such caps and screws have been found in children’s hands or mouths. In addition, Evenflo has received 140 reports of plastic caps and screws becoming loose, causing seatbacks to unexpectedly recline, fall back or detach. Numerous injuries have occurred as a result, including over 47 instances of children falling out of the high chair and suffering bumps and bruises to the head, two reports of broken bones and over 45 reports of other injuries. Evenflo is offering purchasers free repair kits.

Evenflo in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) is recalling the approximately 95,000 Majestic High Chairs made before January 23, 2007 with the following model numbers: 3001395A, 3001583, 3001633A, 3001669, 3001700A, 3001713, 3001713A, 3001730A, 3001732, 3001732A, 3001733, 3001742, 3001742A, and 3001756. Model numbers and production dates are located on the white label on the seatback of the high chair. “Evenflo” is printed on the label as well as on the push button at the front of the tray.

These high chairs were sold between January 2006 and May 2007 at retail stores nationwide, including Toys “R” Us, Babies “R” Us, Burlington Coat Factory and Shopko, and online at Walmart.com. The high chairs were manufactured in China and sold for between $80 and $110.
