North Carolina Dangerous Drug Lawyer Continues Investigation on NaturaLyte and Granuflo Injuries while Statute of Limitations Promptly Approaches

(USGovernment-News.Com, February 26, 2014 ) RALEIGH, N.C. – North Carolina class action law firm Riddle & Brantley continues its investigations regarding injury claims associated with the dangerous drugs NaturaLyte and Granuflo as the deadline for filing claims promptly approaches.

Manufacturing company Fresenius Medical Care North America’s dialysis products Granuflo and NaturaLyte were subject to a U.S. Food and Drug Administration Class 1 recall in March 2012, in response to an Urgent Product Notification issued by Fresenius.

The statutes of limitation for injuries and fatalities caused by the dialysis drugs will start to expire in late March 2014, or two years following the date of the FDA recall. The expiration date of the statute of limitations varies from two to six years depending upon the state where the claim is to be filed.

Granuflo and NaturaLyte dialysis treatments are associated with an increased incidence of cardiac arrest as a result of elevated bicarbonate levels. According to the official FDA recall, additional side effects of the drugs include hypokalemia, dangerously low blood pressure, metabolic alkalosis, and wrongful death. Following the Fresenius recall, the FDA issued a Safety Communication regarding the dangers of treating patients with such drugs containing acetic acid, acetate or citrate, similar to those in NaturaLyte and Granuflo.

According to court documents filed with the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts (MDL 2428), more than 400 lawsuits alleging injuries and death from these dangerous drugs have already been filed and consolidated in multidistrict litigation.

Anyone who has been treated with these drugs or has lost a loved one from these dialysis treatments is encouraged to contact Riddle & Brantley for a free no-obligation consultation in regards to their legal rights.
