Suit Claims Apple Failed to Pay Retail Workers for Time Spent in Security Checks

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 29, 2013 ) New York, NY – A putative class action lawsuit has been filed in California alleging that Apple Inc. failed to properly compensate retail employees for time spent in off-the-clock security searches and bag checks. According to the complaint, employees are owed millions in back pay for this time, in which they were required to wait in line to have supervisors search their belongings. If you worked at a retail Apple store and were not paid for time spent in security checks performed before meal breaks and upon clocking out, you may be entitled to compensation. For more information, please visit http://www.classaction.org/apple-unpaid-security-checks.html for a free case review.

The plaintiff in the case alleges that she had to wait in line for five to 10 minutes before taking her meal breaks and 10 or more minutes before leaving work. She claims that she is owed $1500 in unpaid overtime over the course of a year. A New York resident and fellow Apple employee also claims that he is owed at least $1400 in unpaid overtime per year. The suit claims that the allegedly unpaid security checks violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as California and New York Labor Law.

The attorneys working with ClassAction.org continue to investigate these allegations and need to hear from current and former Apple retail employees to assist in their investigation.
