(USGovernment-News.Com, August 29, 2013 ) Tempe, AZ – A two-part campaign focused on alcohol-related crimes and youth safety has led to more than 850 arrests in the Tempe, Arizona area.
The campaign kicked off on August 15th and lasted for three days and led to 371 arrests and hundreds of more issued citations. The second installment of the campaign occurred over the weekend go August 24th and led to an additional 486 arrests.
The following are some more campaign statistics:
• More than 160 arrests were for driving under the influence • At least 6 DUI arrestees were under the age of 21 • The average blood alcohol content was .131 • 14 party notices with minors in possession of alcohol • 68 loud parties were broken up
The campaign included numerous police departments from Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Mesa and Scottsdale, and other agencies such as the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
In Arizona there were more than 5,400 alcohol-related car accidents in 2012, 44% of which led to serious injuries.
